The Sickness

It has found us again. Actually, I don't think it left. It maybe hides out in the garage or something. Manboy had strep. He seriously looks like he gets punched in the face every time he gets it.

This is a cell phone photo. The real thing looked a lot worse:

After a good two doses of antibiotic and two days home from school he's feeling much, much better! Back to school today!

Superstar, she's a little green too. No photos of her, though. She's taking it much better. No doctor for her either I don't think. Just lots and lots of tissues. On the plus side her voice is very hoarse so her yelling abilities have been compromised greatly.

Last week Friday Dadman had two cysts removed. One was on his forearm and one in his chest-right where Superstar likes to elbow him (zoinks!) hence the idea to get them checked out and removed. He's doing well. If only all of us could store our fat in little balls on our body and have "lipo" to remove them with little to no recovery time the world would be a better place.

Me...I'm green. I have a sore throat and feel like dookie. Being a mom I have every right to say that I do in fact know exactly what dookie feels like. It's the not so great kind that I'm talking about here. So, while I'm trying to stay warm I've found a great tutorial at You Seriously Made That!? Why yes. Yes I did! (sorta)

I was looking for the headband because I had given up on trying to make flowers or anything else that required more than a straight line. After two attempts I seem to have petals this time. I'll just give myself some more practice.

This isn't that same headband showed but a different version. (no ribbon)

I've also made some korker pony Os. Much easier AND faster. Not so much cutting. :)
and look at the pretties! I'm going to find some matching headbands and then list them in my Etsy shop. :)

That's all for now. 30 minutes until Manboy gets home from school. I think I'll try to take a nap. Being sick is hard work.

We should have gotten a dog

Maybe then it would be napping now. Okay, she IS three. She really hasn't napped religiously since about 18 months. What was I thinking? Clearly, I wasn't.

Supergirl: "I'm hungry." (big surprise)
Me: "If I feed you will you take a nap?" (in hopes for some quiet, afternoon mommy time)
Supergirl: "I'm not a dog."

Then she asked about the lunch menu. Okay, really she just spouted off what she wanted. PB&J and that's it. I was surprised by this. That's it? Is she sick? No. Going through a phase? No, she's never done that when it comes to food. I made her a PB&J and myself a bagel with a side of cottage cheese.

That's when she let me have it...

Supergirl: "You know...I like that stuff on your plate."

Oh reeeeally??? This is not my day for thinking ahead. I knew that. So goes my lunch. I could wait to make myself something when she...naps? This is where that dog would come in handy. I could have made two of the same lunches and we'd both be happy. :)

Instead, after she ate our lunches we played in her pop-up castle and had an impromptu photo shoot.

Don't let the precious fool you.

Of course then she played in her room, fell off her bed, got a scrape and now I've fixed the boo boo with a Band-aid and popsicle. She now "loves me so much" and I'm currently her "best friend EBER!"

Yeah, take that Dadman. Who needs a dog when you can have a Supergirl. :)

Ciao!

It's not child labor if they think they're playing a game

This is my method to get them to pick up their toys. They're all about making a list and crossing off their work. This is what they did while I was setting up this blog aka "Mommy Time".

For my first entry I thought you'd like to get to know us. Well, mainly the kids since I'm sure they will be the ones I talk about the most. Here's a little background. Stay with me to get the full effect. Or is it affect? I think, in our case, it might be both?

Let's start with the oldest who likes to call himself Manboy. Not a man. Not a boy. A Manboy. He just turned six two days after Christmas and scored big with his new love for Transformers. Guess who also scored big? Me. I'm a successful level 3 and 4 Transformers transformer. Manboy doesn't have the patience for it and apparently either does Dadman.

So here is Manboy:

Okay, that's Manboy when he was Babyboy and that photo is several years old which makes me sad. He never tried to crawl out of the crib. I shouldn't have changed that. I'd bet he'd still be comfy "behind bars." Oops. Mommy Fail.

Alright, here he is a little older. Fancy isn't he? He was three. Now, at six, he just recently took to wearing a dress shirt with a tie and jeans. He loves ties and spiking his hair. All about being fancy. Yes, prior to this photo he did jump off the couch onto the table which gave him a black eye. No one can just earn the title "Manboy."

Okay. The recent photos. Since he just turned six he's in kindergarten now. He loves school. I love the little notes he's learning to write me on his own. To mark the first day of kindergarten he wore Dadman's first day of kindergarten shirt. (I cried like a baby.) I'm not sure. Everyone always says it. Manboy looks JUST like Dadman. Hmmm....

Manboy, present (2010)   Dadman, prehistoric (okay 1985)
A little more on Manboy: he's an extremely pick eater. Borderline vegetarian. He loves writing. He wants to be a cop when he grows up...or a Transformer. It's really unknown at this point. I'm sure I'll talk about this later. On to Superstar...

Superstar is our youngest. She turned 16 in August. I mean three. She's three. She is the most dramatic three year old. EVER. If you have a three year old you know what I mean. Superstar is a daddy's girl. She's ALWAYS been a daddy's girl. Unless daddy is not home then she settles for me all the while complaining about missing daddy.

Whatever you do DO NOT tell Dadman I posted that. I'm sure Supergirl won't be pleased that she has very little hair and is wearing big bro's hand-me-down PJs, either.

Oh, she's ALWAYS hungry, too. What Manboy doesn't eat she makes up for plus her weight. The best part? The small group of foods she doesn't like are Manboy's favorites. I know, right? Nice.

Here's Superstar
Even as a baby. Food. Good. Biter biscuit on the toes? Not a prob for Superstar.

Here she is a bit older. I loved goofy bonnets on her. Ahh teeth. More food selections. I remember those days.

Superstar is pretty much a punk. She's always trying to one up big brother Manboy. From potty training to now writing her name and a few other words (which Manboy didn't do at this age) she's got to be the center of attention. Wherever there's Manboy there's probably Supergirl right behind him soaking up info. Lucky for her Manboy requires they play together.

Punk
Supergirl is now in her first year of preschool. Of course it's the same school that Manboy attended. Who loves preschool...after those first three weeks of having to hand her over screaming bloody murder?? That's right. Supergirl. Nobody messes with Supergirl and her super mad Playdoh skills. Nobody.

Lately, Supergirl is all about being pretty. Her latest convos with us?
Supergirl: "Am I pretty?"
Me: "Yes, you're beautiful.
Supergirl: "Yeah, I'm always this way."

and let's not forget our drive to Chuck E. Cheese for Manboy's birthday. From her car seat:
Supergirl: "HEY!! You all know I'm pretty right?"

She's all about modesty.

Let's not forget that if this wasn't Wisconsin and it wasn't -3736972 degrees outside she'd be in her undies. The cold weather is Supergirl's weakness.

Apparently, super cool awesome things like fireworks are also a weakness:

More about Supergirl: She LOVES music and dancing, Dora/Diego, Dresses, hair bows, eating, writing, coloring, and whatever Manboy is doing. She's certain that when she grows up she will be an animal rescuer. Also, Supergirl lost her curls. If you know where they are let me know. In six months she went from Curly Sue to waves. It's a sad time.

So, yeah. We live in Wisconsin. What do we do in Wisconsin? Well, I'm sure you'll see some of this:
That's right! Shrooms! No, wait. Those are from our walk in the woods. We love to visit my parents nearby and spend a lot of time outside when the weather is nice. This was from one of our walks. If the kids had to kill to be outside with grandma and papa they'd do it, I'm certain.

There's always sledding in the winter (Manboy, 2008)

Basically, my kids are happiest outside so we spend a lot of time there. Not so much in the winter as Supergirl has inherited my weakness for being cold but we manage.

That's about it for the kids. I thought I'd start this blog to keep track of them and their ability to make us laugh...and drive us crazy.

I think that's their job, though. One game that they LOVE playing. :)

XOXO,
